No trip to happiness
Everything went wrong for Jasin Ferati at the first European Championship event in Angerville. The Winterthur kart driver missed qualifying for the final and didn't get any points.
At the start of the European Kart Championship in Angerville, nothing reminded us of the successful dress rehearsal and 12th place in the final. The track conditions in France and the opponents were largely the same, but the record for Jasin Ferati with 53rd place was quite different. A late mistake in the promising fastest qualifying lap cost the 15-year-old from Winterthur a good starting position for the qualifying races.
In these, the planned race to catch up came to a standstill in the first heat because its Vortex engine was not delivering its full power. After an engine change, Ferati was still able to prove his potential: In the third heat, he finished 14th, just 5.6 seconds behind the winner, and with the fourth fastest lap, made people sit up and take notice. As a result, however, there were problems with the drive again, so that Ferati got stuck in the rear positions and had to bury hope of reaching the final.
"A weekend to forget," he fretted. “I made the mistake in qualifying. Then, for the first time this season, there was a lack of communication and the reliability of the material. It's no consolation that defending champion Hannes Janker and other favorites also had to pack their bags early.” After a commanding start-finish victory, Scottish Sauber protégé Dexter Patterson is the first European Championship leader. The European Championship continues from May 17th to 19th in Genk, Belgium. A week before that, a new challenge awaited Jasin Ferati at his first appearance in the German Electric Kart Championship in Wackersdorf.
