At the second event of the Kart EM in Belgium, Jasin Ferati advanced to the final. Thanks to the 23rd place in the final, the man from Winterthur improved his position to 29th overall.

With the successful detour to the electric karts in memory, Jasin Ferati has also made a leap forward and managed to win a medal in the world's highest rated kart category. In the second run of the OK European Championships in Genk, the 15-year-old from Winterthur was among the fastest from the first practice session. However, a failed tire gamble in qualifying threw him way back in the seventies starting field. With three very good heats in very different conditions and a portion of luck, he still qualified for the final, in contrast to the defending champion Hannes Janker and other favorites. Ferati had already made up nine positions from 32nd on the grid when a thunderstorm prompted the race director to abandon the stage after 20 of 23 laps for safety reasons.

The rear axle of my kart was damaged in an accident on the hectic starting lap, otherwise I would have made even more progress and maybe even gotten into the points,” said the annoyed Winterthur native. “But overall, 23rd place is a good result. I'm even happier that I was able to keep up with the best in terms of lap times at the European Championships for the first time. That makes me confident for the other races in Kristianstad in two weeks and then in Le Mans.” The increase in performance has already had positive effects in the overall classification: Ferati has advanced from 53rd to 29th place in the top-class field of participants. The leader remains the Scottish Sauber protégé Dexter Patterson, who has come threateningly close to world champion Lorenzo Travisanutto thanks to the sovereign final victory in Genk.

"Until qualifying, Genk was probably my best international performance so far," Ferati thinks. “Then came the poker with the tires. Five minutes before qualifying the track started to dry out quickly and like others we opted for the slicks. Hardly on the slope, however, the rain started again and prevented good starting positions in the heats. Since I was at least the fastest on the wrong tires, I was able to keep the damage to a minimum. Nevertheless, I was devastated and as a result promptly lacked concentration in the first heat. That too will teach me a lesson.”
