Jump into Formula 3

Milestone for Jasin Ferati: The 17-year-old from Winterthur dares the step into Formula 3 and will start in 2021 for the Monolite Racing team in the Formula Regional by Alpine. The highlights of the new championship are the F1 support races in Monaco and Barcelona.

After the debut year with Jenzer Motorsport in Formula 4, promotion to Formula 3 is the bold but logical continuation of Jasin Ferati's racing career. The Formula Regional by Alpine, which resulted from the merger between the Eurocup Renault and the old Formula Regional, is an ideal platform for ambitious young drivers. Tatuu's T-318 Formula 3 racing car, 1.8-liter turbocharged Alpine engines with 270 hp and Pirelli tires will be used. Ten events, each with two races on Formula 1 tracks, are on the program, including appearances as part of the Monaco and Spanish Grand Prix.

In addition to Formula 3 drivers, many talents from Formula 4 are venturing into the new championship, for which 13 teams from all over Europe were considered. As a driver of the Italian team Monolite Racing, Ferati meets some acquaintances from the karting and Formula 4 days. “Since I was only allowed to sit in the car for the seat test in Noventa, I am very excited about the test drives in Imola in mid-March. The fact that I know this route well and appreciate it is reassuring,” says the Winterthur native, who is about to complete his apprenticeship. “I also think it's good that you can't train with these racing cars at will, but only within the framework of the limited test days. So everyone has the same prerequisites when things finally get going.”

Ferati has found a good reception in the team of Rudi Mariotto and Andrej Slask, which has been reinforced on the technical side with the experienced and successful Fabio Zilio. "I'm really looking forward to the new challenge," he admits. “The Formula Regional by Alpine is something very special for me. I always hoped to get this far. Now it's up to me to meet the high expectations. I would therefore like to thank everyone who always believed in me and who now make it possible for me to compete in Formula 3. I know very well that this is anything but a matter of course. The fact that we will only drive on Grand Prix circuits in the new championship is something very special. I can hardly wait to get to know the Nürburegring, Spa-Francorchamps or Zandvoort. But what I'm most looking forward to is the streets of Monaco. I find it extremely cool to be able to perform there alongside Formula 1.”

More than 30 participants are expected in the new forecourt of the FIA Championships, including seasoned Formula 3 drivers with Gabriele Mini, Francesco Pizzi, Dino Beganovic, Andrea Rosso and Haverkort, last year's dominators of Formula 4.
