Ferati pulls the ripcord
As a result of the unsatisfactory course of the season so far in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine, Jasin Ferati made use of a contractually guaranteed exit clause in Zandvoort and prematurely ended the collaboration with the Monolite Racing team.
The separation from the Italian team Monolite Racing does not mean the end of the Formula 3 ambitions of the 17-year-old Winterthur racing driver. Until the championship resumes in a month's time at Francorchamps, alternatives are being explored with other teams to continue Jasin Ferati's season. However, the focus is on better preparation for the 2022 championship with participation in all winter test drives and increased mental and simulator training. Experiences that Ferati have certainly lacked this season.
"Moving up to Formula 3 with the much faster and heavier cars was a great experience for me that I wouldn't want to miss," Ferati summarizes the six months with Monolite Racing. “I was able to learn a lot and also had some good races, such as in Barcelona, where I finished 19th, or in Le Castellet. Unfortunately, there were also many difficult moments due to technical and administrative problems. All in all, we didn't succeed enough in optimally tuning the car to the respective circuits in the few minutes of testing available. A disadvantage in this connection was certainly that my race engineer was also new to this championship alongside me. I was pleased that we parted peacefully after everything that had happened. I hope that all team members and those around me understand this difficult decision. We will definitely come back stronger.”
In Zandvoort, in Ferati's absence, Switzerland's Grégoire Saucy extended the lead with two more impressive victories. At half-time in the championship, the ART driver from Jura is now 64 and 67 points ahead of his most dangerous opponents, the French Hadrien David and Issac Hadjar.
Official communique
Ferati no longer with Monolite Racing
After training for the 5th event of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine in Zandvoort, Swiss racer Jasin Ferati (17) and Italian team Monolite Racing have decided to terminate their contract and plan their future in different ways. There will be no further comments on the separation.
Jasin Ferati: “My first steps into Formula 2 with Monolite Racing were a good experience. I will try everything to come back stronger next season.”
Rudy Mariotto, Team Principal: “It was also a good experience for us to work with Jasin and we are very sorry that he was not able to fully develop his potential. Complicated situations outside of the team and the driver were responsible for this. I wish Jasin all the best and better results in the future.”
