New challenge for Ferati

After two seasons in single-seater racing, a completely new task awaits Jasin Ferati: the Winterthur racing driver is switching from the Formula 3 cockpit to the 510 hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup and is driving the Porsche Sprint Challenge Suisse in the top team Fach Auto Tech.

Despite offers for the Formula Regional by Alpine and promising Euroformula Open test drives in Valencia at the beginning of the year, Jasin Ferati decided to start over in a completely different motorsport division. Since the financial outlay required for the current Formula 3 racing series can hardly be guaranteed without factory support and “Götti”, switching to the GT class is a sensible step. Driving for the title in an experienced top team with competitive material in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Suisse is a better approach for the continuation of the racing career of the 18-year-old from Winterthur than the almost hopeless attempt in a mediocre Formula 3 team around 40 equally motivated competitors from all over the world to advance into the points.

"I'm looking forward to the new challenge. Although the driving behavior is completely different, I found my way around well with my new work machine during the first test drives in Le Castellet. It will be interesting to see how I get used to the GT3 Porsche, which is not easy to drive, and develop further over the course of the season,” Ferati looks ahead. He sees it as an advantage that he is very familiar with four of the six race tracks that are on the program for the Porsche Sprint Challenge. The fact that many of his competitors have been involved in this championship for a long time is an additional challenge.

In terms of performance, the 1260-kilogram Porsche GT3 Cup car with rear-wheel drive and sequential six-speed gearbox is superior to the previous Feratis racing car. The 4-liter four-cylinder engine delivers 510 hp and enables top speeds of up to 260 kilometers per hour. Ferati has long identified an important point of contact with his motorsport career. The clear winner of the last two Porsche Sprint Challenge Suisse is a long-standing kart rival, Schwyz-based Alexander Fach, who dares to make the leap into the international Porsche Super Cup in 2022. "The goal now is to follow in his footsteps in Switzerland and then follow the same path," says Ferati. “Auto Tech Fach, Alexander's father's team that has been successful for years, offers the best prerequisites for this. It is now up to me to seize this opportunity and recommend myself for higher tasks.”

Porsche and the team boss welcome Ferati's decision. "We are very happy to be in Porsche Sports Cup Suisse to be able to rely on young talents again this season. Jasin Ferati will compete for us in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Suisse and has big plans,” says Alex Fach, who will field no fewer than five cars in this popular racing series. In addition, the team wants to be at the forefront of the Porsche Supercup, which is held as part of the Formula 1 weekends, and fight for the title, as it has for years.

The Porsche Sprint Challenge Suisse 2022 includes two sprint races on April 30 at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg; a sprint and an endurance race on May 28 at the Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet; two sprints on July 10 in Franciacorta, Italy; two sprints on August 20 at Dijon-Prenois; a sprint and an endurance race on September 24 at Mugello, and a sprint and a two-hour night race on October 29 at Misano. Each of the twelve races counts for the annual ranking. There are no void results, but additional points for the fastest qualifying and race laps.
