First time in the points

After a great race to catch up, Jasin Ferati missed the podium among the rookies by just one second in fourth at Hockenheim, but still managed to secure the first points in the overall standings of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland.

In practice, Jasin Ferati was a constant guest in the “top ten”, in qualifying the man from Winterthur made it into the middle of the field in 18th place, but only one race at the Hockenheimring went according to plan. Here, too, there was a shock to digest first: the member of the Porsche talent pool stalled the engine at the first appearance in front of 40,000 spectators and was only able to start the race at the end of the impressive field of 32. Unimpressed by this mishap, Ferati managed the best performance so far in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. He dared the most overtaking manoeuvres, improved by twelve positions and crossed the finish line in much acclaimed 14th place.

The first two points in the overall standings were the deserved reward for the good performance. The desired confirmation for this was not achieved within 24 hours. Ferati got away better in the second race, but struggled from the start with the lack of grip and the handling of the 510 hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup of the Schwyz team Fach Auto Tech, so that he was unable to benefit from the many accidents and retirements. A wild rallycross interlude after a nudge from his talent pool colleague Ghislain Cordeel prevented him from jumping into the points that were still possible. The fact that the man from Winterthur was able to finish 17th despite the badly damaged underbody was only possible thanks to the use of the safety car in the final laps. "I'm happy about the first points. Without the big false start and the mediocre qualifying, much better positions and even a podium in the rookie classification would have been possible at the Hockenheimring, where I have never driven before,” Ferati said angrily. “The many place gains and the speed in training and in the race make me feel positive. I still don't want to get everything to the point at the right moment. But that is yet to come. The next opportunity will come in two weeks in Zandvoort.” There, the two Dutchmen, Loek Hartog and Larry ten Voorde, who are the clear leaders in the overall standings, enjoy home advantage.
