Best performance of the season at the Lausitzring

Jasin Ferati has confirmed the upward trend in the Porsche Carrera Cup at the Lausitzring with the third podium in a row for the rookies and the best performance of the season in ninth overall. The man from Winterthur also finished in the points in the second race.

Qualifying was only halfway successful, the pace of the race is unmistakable: At the fifth Carrera Cup event on Saturday, Jasin Ferati improved from 17th place on the grid to 9th place and significantly reduced the gap to the top drivers. Patience was needed before the third podium could finally be celebrated. The stewards had imposed a five-second penalty on the 20-year-old from Winterthur for an incorrect overtaking manoeuvre, but they came back on that decision. The competitor involved in the incident was honest and confirmed Ferati's innocence - a great gesture.

In Sunday's race, the starting position was even better with starting position 14. "I got off to a good start again, made up three positions and, as the third-best rookie, was able to keep up with the compact group in front of me," said Ferati. “But then it became increasingly difficult for me to get everything out of the Porsche. For three laps I was able to withstand pressure from Leon Köhler and Alexander Fach, then I had to let them pass to avoid a collision. Two months ago I would have been happy to have won championship points, but today it takes more than confirming my starting position.”

Thanks to the brilliant result on Saturday, Ferati drew a positive balance: “I'm still a bit lacking in basic speed. All in all it was a good weekend again. I will continue to work hard with the aim of regularly being in the top 10.” In the overall classification, the third driver of the Fach Auto Tech team has moved up to 18th place thanks to nine more points. He has lost a position in the rookie standings but is only three points behind Belgium's Ghislain Cordeel and 15 behind
third placed German Vincent Andronaco.

In the heat of the Lausitz there were two surprising winners in the main field: Loek Hartog from Holland and Bastian Buus from Denmark, who is in action as the 2023 Porsche Junior. Series winner Larry ten Voorde had to be satisfied with positions 2 and 3, but with a lead of 54 points he is even closer to winning the title again. The demanding Sachsenring awaits the fastest Porsche drivers in three weeks as the next arena.
