With trembling and fear on the podium

Twice in the points in the overall ranking of the Porsche Carrera Cup and once on the podium in the rookies: Jasin Ferati from Winterthur has returned to the road to success at the Red Bull Ring in Styria.

It was a long period of trembling and fear. Thanks to deliberate restraint in the final phase, Jasin Ferati achieved the third place he had previously fought for in the rookie classification in the third to last race of the season. “When the tire pressure sensor became noticeable halfway through the race with constantly falling values, the finale became a nervous affair,” assured the Winterthur resident. “Thanks to being five seconds ahead of my pursuers, I was able to slow down a little, avoid the curbs and protect the tires. I was just moping around. The rounds became longer and longer, the tension and stress increased. The joy was even greater when I made it to the finish line with almost no air.”

The fourth podium finish of the season was the reward for the intelligent driving. Ferati was still not completely satisfied: “I had a fantastic car, great speed and was able to keep up with the leading group without any problems. Without a puncture I could have made it to a top 10 place and second place among the rookies. As it was, I had to be happy that I didn’t lose any of the places I had won at the beginning.”

The key to success was a perfect overtaking maneuver against his Belgian arch-rival Ghislain Cordeel. He had tried the same thing the day before, but missed the braking point, lost a lot of time and perhaps missed out on another podium. “On Saturday I was too impetuous, on Sunday I knew exactly what was important. “I watched him for a long time with complete clarity in my head and struck at the right time,” said the 20-year-old from Winterthur happily. The two rookies are now traveling to the season finale in Hockenheim with equal points.

The key point on the way to the top remains qualifying. If Ferati had managed to combine the best section times at the Red Bull Ring on the two fastest laps, he would have secured starting places in the top dozen. As it was, he had to settle for positions 17 and 15. The fact that he was able to improve twice by three places in this particularly competitive environment is a confirmation of his dormant potential and was rewarded with six championship points.

The almost 27-year-old Dutchman Larry ten Voorde secured his third championship title in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany with his sixth win of the season and fifth place. The second race winner at the Red Bull Ring was second overall, Porsche Junior Bastian Buus from Denmark.
