Intact title chance thanks to another win

Intact title chance thanks to another win

Jasin Ferati ensures high tension in the German Electric Kart Championship: With a spectacular victory in Ampfing, the 16-year-old from Winterthur came dangerously close to the leading German Luka Wlömer before the finale in Sarno.

The title decision in the DEKM, which is advertised internationally and accompanied by great media interest, will not be made until the end of October at the final event in southern Italy. Thanks to a win and second place in extremely difficult weather conditions at the Bavarian Schweppermannring, the Winterthur rookie Jasin Ferati is only 12 points behind Luka Wlömer from Berlin, who was two years older than last year's third place, taking into account the discarded results. Since 72 points are still up for grabs at the finale in Sarno, the excitement will remain until the last race.

Just two days after his successful Formula 4 test at Magny Cours, Ferati also has the far more familiar Rotax-Thunder electric kart at the wheel  convinced. A bold tire strategy in the final race in Ampfing was the key to closing the gap to Wlömer in the overall standings. The leader relied on rain tires in a light drizzle, the pursuer ventured onto the greasy track with slicks and was not impressed when Wlömer initially pulled away at the front. The longer the race lasted, the better Ferati got going. At half-time he took the lead and continued to win, even though two opponents using the same tactics came threateningly close.

"I already felt safe the day before with the slicks in similar conditions and I consciously took the somewhat greater risk," said Ferati, happy about the successful trick, which earned him praise from many quarters. "If the rain had gotten heavier, I wouldn't have had a chance. But if you don't dare, you don't win", he was also aware of. "Now I'm going to Naples in good spirits and with my head held high, where I can bring about the decision in my favor despite the difficult starting position on my own."
