Two top 6 places at Le Castellet

Successful detour into the Spanish Formula 4 Championship: Jasin Ferati gets a taste of the podium on the Le Castellet Grand Prix circuit and achieves his best results so far in a racing car with places 5 and 6.

With 7th place in qualifying, 17-year-old Jasin Ferati from Winterthur put himself in an excellent starting position for the first two races of the well-attended Spanish Formula 4 Championship and translated this into corresponding results on the extremely hot Circuit Paul Ricard. As in Saturday's 30-minute race, Ferati finished sixth in Sunday's spectacular sprint, three seconds behind winning team-mate Felipe Ugran, but moved up one position due to a penalty on Lorenzo Fluxa. The Spaniard had repelled Ferati's attack on third place on the last lap with a dangerous move that benefited the two closest pursuers.

"After I overtook my old kart rival Fluxa in the finale of the first race, he tried everything to prevent this in the second race and that cost me the podium," said the annoyed Winterthur native. Despite this, he was pleased with the increase in performance compared to the start of the season. “The field of participants may not be quite as strong as in Italy, but the top 10 are at a high level and fight for every position. I'm very pleased that I still managed to overtake many times.” The poor starting position and an early slip in the final third race, in which Ferati was able to improve from 19th to 13th place, were partly responsible for this.

As in the previous year, Le Castellet was definitely worth a trip for the Jenzer Motorsport team. Romanian Felipe Ugran was the most successful driver of the weekend with two wins and one second place. The newly joined Italian Francesco Simonazzi scored 20 championship points and Ferati 14. Thanks to these good experiences, the Swiss team is now considering starting at the races in Barcelona.
