Twice second in Neuland

Two second places are actually good for the Porsche protégé Jasin Ferati, but not good enough to defend the lead in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Suisse against the two-time Dijon winner Jürg Aeberhard.

After total dominance in Franciacorta, 19-year-old Jasin Ferati from Winterthur did well in races 7 and 8 of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Suisse. The former Formula 1 track in Dijon-Prenois was just as new to him as the conditions: in training and in In qualifying he had to tame the 510 hp Porsche 992 GT3 Cup on a wet track for the first time ever. From this point of view, third place in qualifying was a good start, which was followed by two respectable second places and a fastest race lap in the two sprint races in the dry.

Since Ferati finished the first race very close after a hard fight and in the second race after a difficult start well behind Aeberhard, he ended up 13 points behind the Bernese veteran in the overall classification. In the four remaining races in Italy, however, he can make up for this on his own. There will certainly be no lack of excitement in Mugello at the end of September and four weeks later in Misano.

“Unfortunately, I wasn't able to repeat my performance of Franciacorta in France. I quickly got used to the route, which I didn't know, but it was great. Still, I couldn't risk too much. Since every point is important in the final count, we absolutely wanted to avoid mistakes,” said the man from Winterthur. “I was very happy that I was also among the three fastest drivers in the rain. The first race also went well. After overtaking Gregor Burkhard, who had started in front of me, I was able to quickly catch up on Aeberhard and put him under a lot of pressure right up to the finish line. But he didn't let himself be tempted to make a mistake and deserved the win.”

The second appearance was more difficult. In order to avoid an accident, Ferati had to back off in the first corner after the start and then found himself slowed down behind Gregor Burkhard for so long that Aeberhard was able to pull far away. “My car's pace wasn't as good as it was in the morning. So a catch-up race was out of the question. In the closing stages, I had to confine myself much more to defending second place. We have to analyze the reason for the loss of grip. But maybe I overstrained the tires a bit. Regardless, the team did a great job again. I'm really looking forward to the next races with Fach Auto Tech and I haven't lost sight of the championship title at all."
