Champion thanks to maximum points

Jasin Ferati traveled to the season finale of the Porsche Sports Cup in Misano nine points behind. The 19-year-old from Winterthur captured the championship title as a rookie with a four-point lead. With Alexander Fach as a strong teammate, he also won the final night race.

In the last two sprint races on the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, the Porsche protégé of the Schwyz top team Fach Auto Tech needed the maximum number of points to be able to catch championship leader Jürg Aeberhard. He met this demanding requirement under optimal conditions thanks to two commanding victories with a lead of 4.627 and 1.787 seconds, pole position and two fastest laps. So he was able to be celebrated as a champion in his first season in this high-quality championship.

"It was an incredible feeling when I crossed the finish line," admitted Ferati. “I knew I could do it, but it took hours that I will never forget to do it. Now we also know that switching from the racing car to the 525 hp Porsche 992 GT3 Cup was the right decision.” After overall victory in the German Electric Kart Championship in 2019, this is the second major success in Ferati’s career.

Since routiner Aeberhard was able to push him off the lead with perfect starts in both races, the man from Winterthur needed two overtaking maneuvers against his equally ambitious opponent to get back to the top, and this task was also brilliant, in the first race already on the first of 15 rounds, in the second same place in the second round. “I knew from practice and qualifying that I could drive faster on this track, so I didn't stress myself out. Towards the end of the race, however, it got tough because I really couldn't afford to make any mistakes. It's all the better that it worked out," he said.

Team boss Alex Fach and the whole team were also very enthusiastic. "We are extremely proud that we were able to defend this valuable title with Jasin and are also happy about the great progress he made in his first season with us. We knew that Jasin is fast. But we wouldn't have expected the last level of consistency," revealed the team boss, whose son Alexander won the championship a year ago. "Now of course we hope that things will continue in this way."

Victory also in the night race

As the crowning glory of the successful Misano weekend, Jasin Ferati and his predecessor Alexander Fach also celebrated class victory in the two-hour race at night, which did not count for the championship. In the impressive starting field with 40 cars, only the Germans Dinkeldein/Seefried were faster than the two young Swiss, who saved a 15.861 second advantage to the finish with their much more powerful Porsche 992 GTR.
